Save the file as CSV as it preserves the date as it appears. Open a blank Excel spreadsheet, open the Data tab and click on From Text/CSV (In the Get & Transform Data section). Select the CSV file and click Import. Click on Transform Data (bottom right). Select the column with the incorrect date (i.e. Column8) and click the Split Column button, by Delimiter. It should automatically pick the correct delimiter (in my case the forward slash) but if not you can use the custom option and type it in. Click OK.
The column is now split into three, select the middle column (i.e. Column8.2) and move it in front of the first column (i.e. Column8.1).
Make sure all 3 columns are selected, then click the Transform menu up the top, and in the Text Column section, select Merge Columns. In the Separator box, select Custom and type back in the forward slash (or whatever was separating the dates before), and click OK.
Click the File menu, and select Close & Load.
From there you can copy and paste the dates back into the original file, now the correct way around.

Is there a way to swap the data and month VALUE? Not just the formatting. When I paste date values from a text file or PDF, Excel auto-interprets the values incorrectly. I.e. 02-03-2019 is imported as 03rd Feb instead of 02nd Mar. Simply changing the formatting does not fix this problem.

First Select all the dates, and replace all "/" with ".". Then use below formula:=+REPLACE(A2,1,5,TRIM(MID(LEFT(A2,5),SEARCH(".",LEFT(A2,5))+1,250))&"."&LEFT(LEFT(A2,5),SEARCH(".",LEFT(A2,5))-1))
